Position: Project Coordinator (Hazardous Materials Specialist)

Location: Saint John, New Brunswick

Join our dynamic team at Pinchin as a Project Coordinator specializing in hazardous materials. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring workplace safety and compliance with environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of hazardous materials and workplace exposures.
  • Engage with clients to discuss building histories and specific concerns related to their sites.
  • Perform detailed inspections and evaluations of building systems and materials.
  • Utilize specialized equipment to gather measurements and collect samples.
  • Identify and analyze materials suspected of containing asbestos, lead, or PCBs.
  • Compile comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations for addressing hazardous materials issues.
  • Oversee the work of abatement and restoration contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collect and analyze air samples for asbestos using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).
  • Support business development efforts with existing clients.
  • Enhance quality control measures within the team.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction or Architectural Technology, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the industry.
  • Previous experience with hazardous materials is an advantage.
  • Professional designations such as C.E.T. are considered beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and health safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with various building systems including structure, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work outside standard hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance for travel within the designated area.
  • Compliance with client-required security clearances and drug testing may be necessary.
