We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Project Engineer to join our Project Engineering team at Irving Forest Services.
As an Associate Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and managing multi-disciplined capital projects from concept development to start-up. This will involve leading a team through all phases of projects, including scope definition, funding applications, detailed engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, in compliance with all environmental regulations, within budget, and on schedule. They will also be responsible for achieving all technical, performance, and quality objectives.
Our team operates within highly technical, fast-paced, and competitive businesses, and we are part of an integrated forest products value chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional project teams involving multiple stakeholders to ensure projects are completed in a cost-effective, timely, reliable, and safe manner.
- Develop and implement project plans, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Coordinate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, minutes, and other relevant documents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- Prior experience in pulp and paper or other heavy industrial projects is considered an asset.
- Ability to lead cross-functional project teams and ensure projects are completed in a cost-effective, timely, reliable, and safe manner.
- Above-average planning and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
