Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly motivated and organized Activity Worker II to join our team at the Heritage Village. As an Activity Worker II, you will play a vital role in carrying out established resident activity programs, ensuring the well-being and engagement of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out established resident activity programs, including arts and crafts, sports, woodworking, cooking, gardening, and exercises, in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Fraser Health.
  • Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for activity projects, teach the techniques of related activities to residents, and oversee the residents' activities, reporting any problems or changes to the Recreation Therapist.
  • Arrange outings by contacting relevant groups, such as theatres, sports organizations, colleges, schools, community clubs, and recreational centers, ensuring accessibility and obtaining necessary tickets.
  • Conduct resident activity programs outside the facility, ensuring residents have appropriate clothing and necessary equipment, and coordinate the movements of residents during activities.
  • Provide direction to volunteers during activity programs and demonstrate related techniques as required.
  • Transport residents by operating the wheelchair van, conducting pre-trip checks, loading and securing wheelchairs, driving the van, and arranging for gas fill-ups.
  • Arrange for additional community transportation for events and outings, such as shopping trips or other requested places.
  • Prepare and maintain bulletin boards, flip charts, and other materials advertising activities available to residents.
  • Purchase necessary supplies for activities in consultation with the Recreation Therapist and maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Report problems to the Recreation Therapist or Plant Services and maintain work areas in clean condition, storing all equipment and supplies appropriately.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12, completion of recognized recreational courses, plus two years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Successful completion of Food Safe Level 1.
  • Valid class IV driver's license.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
