Job Title: Secondary Student Summer Employment Program – Early Childhood Education

Seabird Island Band is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Secondary Student Summer Employment Program – Early Childhood Education. This is a unique opportunity to work with children and contribute to their growth and development.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist in the planning and implementation of culturally appropriate activities and experiences for children. They will work closely with the Summer Program Supervisor to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of activities and experiences for children
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children
  • Assist in daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, and preparation
  • Follow the center's procedures for maintaining health records and administering medication
  • Report any accidents, injuries, or illnesses to the Supervisor
  • Assist in field trips and daily events
Requirements:
  • Must be a minimum of 15 years old and have a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must have a Bank account and a BC Services Card
  • First Aid, Babysitting, and Food Safe certificates are an asset
  • Experience working with children is required
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and effectively interact with children
  • Ability to lift children alone or in pairs and participate in physical activities
  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to agree and adhere to Seabird Island Band's HR, Finance, and IT Policies and Procedures
  • Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language or willingness to learn
