Director, Finance

Real Estate Development

Residential Multifamily, Commercial

Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership:
    • Oversee financial modeling for projects and review financial projections.
    • Conduct thorough investment assessments and prepare investment recommendations.
    • Lead the accounting team to ensure precise and timely financial reporting.
    • Implement and maintain robust internal control measures.
    • Set and execute departmental goals, objectives, and policies.
    • Evaluate organizational performance against the annual budget and long-term strategy.
    • Monitor project cost performance, manage change orders, and uphold project budgets to maximize profitability.
    • Provide strategic guidance on financing options to support project success.
    • Identify financial risks and offer analyses and recommendations to enhance financial outcomes.
    • Foster positive relationships with auditors, financial institutions, investors, and external partners.
    • Negotiate financing arrangements and manage cash flow to meet operational needs.
    • Direct accounting processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
    • Develop and enforce policies to promote corporate governance and sound business practices.
    • Contribute to incentive design for key management personnel.
    • Support the CEO in executing the strategic plan and assist functional teams in operational implementation.
  • Corporate Leadership:
    • Demonstrate a strong passion for the real estate sector and the North American market.
    • Advocate for a performance-oriented and results-driven culture.
    • Focus on value creation through analytical thinking and strategic planning.
    • Communicate effectively in English and Mandarin with stakeholders (Mandarin is an asset, not a requirement).
    • Play a key role in building a committed professional team through incentive programs.
    • Manage interdepartmental conflicts to achieve optimal project cost performance.
    • Unite teams to achieve common goals.
    • Encourage and support innovative ideas.
    • Promote a collaborative and open communication culture.
    • Engage with leaders and team members at all levels, bringing empathy and insights to discussions.
Qualifications:
  • CFA designation is a plus.
  • Experience in capital raising for real estate ventures.
  • Valuable experience in managing investor relations.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the real estate or development industry.
  • Proven strategic partner to the CEO and Board with a deep understanding of real estate risks.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin preferred.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Accountability and respect for deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of real estate risks and market dynamics.
  • Experience in managing project costs according to industry best practices.
  • Skilled in structuring deals and equity arrangements.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to deliver presentations effectively.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business demands.
Compensation Package:

Base Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 Canadian Dollars, commensurate with experience.

Annual performance-based bonus.
