Position Summary
As an experienced leader with a proven ability to inspire and develop teams, you will oversee production activities in a dynamic manufacturing setting, ensuring that safety, cost-efficiency, quality, and performance benchmarks are consistently achieved.
Core Responsibilities
- Foster a workplace culture grounded in fairness and respect for individuals, aligned with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter.
- Lead, manage, and support all team members within the department by establishing clear goals, monitoring performance, and facilitating effective communication and training initiatives.
- Maintain a strong departmental structure by ensuring adequate staffing levels and developing succession plans and employee growth strategies to meet current and future demands.
- Create and implement an annual strategic plan for the department that aligns with corporate performance goals and industry benchmarks.
- Encourage and uphold standardization practices, including standard work processes, one-piece flow, and cycle time adherence.
- Drive and support Kaizen initiatives across all departmental teams, implementing the principles of the Magna Production System (MPS/TPS).
- Gather, analyze, and monitor data related to departmental effectiveness, using insights to formulate continuous improvement action plans.
- Develop and introduce new processes and procedures as necessary to adapt to evolving business requirements.
- Facilitate open communication through regular departmental meetings and maintain an open-door policy.
- Continuously enhance departmental operations while staying informed about new products, processes, materials, and technological advancements.
- Ensure visibility and approachability for employees by practicing Management By Walking Around (MBWA).
- Oversee the preparation, approval, and achievement of the departmental budget.
- Lead initiatives to enhance assembly efficiency and effectiveness by implementing projects, refining operational practices, and fostering ongoing improvements.
- Identify and rectify unsafe practices or conditions, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Essential Qualifications
- 5-10 years of management experience in leading and developing teams.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
- Experience with complex manufacturing processes; automotive experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge or training in MPS/TPS is a plus.
