Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and optimize the manufacturing processes for automotive components.
  • Ensure precision in manufacturing bills of materials for all products, maintaining a 98% accuracy rate.
  • Oversee the accuracy of work center master files, routers, and standard run times, including sub-contracted operations.
  • Coordinate timely Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to reduce obsolete inventory and maintain production standards.
  • Guarantee the integrity of the part numbering system.
  • Lead initiatives for plant and equipment layout enhancements, process improvements, and die modifications.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of standard costs for all products.
  • Facilitate the seamless introduction of new products and aid in selecting suitable suppliers for subcontracted tasks.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for operational improvements to boost competitiveness.
  • Engage in the engineering change process by creating and updating Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses as necessary.
  • Review operator instructions and ensure assembly equipment readiness, packaging requirements, and completion of all manufacturing engineering tasks.
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor.
  • Provide engineering support in ergonomic evaluations, methods enhancement, equipment procurement, and safety initiatives.
  • Investigate and report on manufacturing issues to enhance overall plant productivity, focusing on process cost reductions and corrective actions to minimize downtimes and rejects.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in controls engineering is essential.
  • A college diploma or university degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills.
