We offer Engineering Interns a chance to gain practical experience in project execution, from initial design to operational phases, engaging in challenging tasks that will help them cultivate expertise and advance their careers.

The Project Engineer-In-Training supports Project Engineers and Engineering Managers in orchestrating project execution aligned with client specifications and objectives, while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints, as well as quality standards. This role employs various standard problem-solving methodologies while managing assignments of limited scope and complexity. The position entails applying technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices to facilitate the design, fabrication, construction, and commissioning of oil and gas facilities globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize practical knowledge to develop a diverse skill set while contributing to the overall success of Propak's operations through collaboration with a cross-functional team;
  • Coordinate specific multi-disciplinary functions or areas within the project scope, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning (as applicable);
  • Assist in managing interfaces with key project stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with senior project managers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion according to contractual obligations;
  • Aid in managing project scope and coordinating change management submissions and processes;
  • Participate in Piping and Instrumentation Drawing (P&ID) reviews and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs);
  • Prepare and maintain lists of lines, equipment, instrumentation, and specialty items;
  • Assist in the sizing and selection of project valves, instrumentation, and process equipment;
  • Engage in the Bid / Evaluate / Award process;
  • Collaborate with purchasing and expediting teams to follow up on procurement;
  • Review and approve vendor drawings and documentation;
  • Review and approve fabrication drawings;
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and construction planning sessions;
  • Coordinate and review the compilation of Project Data and Operating Manuals for distribution to the project team and client;
  • Conduct shop inspections and resolve technical challenges;
  • Review shipping lists;
  • Assist in resolving shop and field Requests for Information (RFIs).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Demonstrated aptitude in project management;
  • Ability to apply relevant theoretical and practical engineering principles to address challenges;
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment;
  • Adaptable and capable of meeting objectives in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities and strict deadlines;
  • Ability to foresee the implications of changes and plan accordingly;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and graphical communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and respectfully;
  • Excellent reading, research, and analytical skills, with the capability to interpret and utilize complex information;
  • Understanding of intricate verbal and written instructions;
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, time management, and planning abilities;
  • Capacity to monitor the quality of one’s own work and establish systems for ensuring accuracy.
