Role Summary

We are currently on the lookout for Trainee Painters to be part of our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the quantity of materials needed by measuring surfaces or reviewing work orders.
  • Choose suitable paint and blend it according to a specified formula.
  • Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents, or otherwise prepare items for the application of paint or protective coatings.
  • Manage automated spray paint, dip, or flow coating equipment, or other mechanized painting or coating application tools.
  • Utilize hand-held spray guns to apply paint or protective coatings to stationary items.
  • Prepare surfaces for paint application, including sandblasting and wrapping.
  • Paint smaller items and perform touch-ups using paint brushes.
  • Maintain and clean painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air tools, and personal protective gear.
  • Follow instructions attentively and work towards achieving set goals, action plans, and timelines for project completion.
  • Apply knowledge and skills acquired from mentors and coaches to ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for registration as a registered apprentice; or
  • Current registration as an apprentice.
  • A strong motivation to learn and grow.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and a Confidentiality and Invention Agreement upon hire.
