Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate cranes to lift, move, position, or place various equipment and materials.
  • Transport the crane to designated job sites.
  • Prepare the crane for operation by rigging the machine (pinning the boom and pendant cables, and pulling the hoist cable).
  • Ensure the crane is set up correctly for lifting tasks (making it level and stable) using appropriate blocking and leveling materials.
  • Handle booms capable of swinging, hoisting, and adjusting with a lifting capacity ranging from over 5 tons to under 45 tons.
  • Service and operate various types of hoisting equipment, including travelling, fixed, or climbing types.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and calculate crane capacities and weights to prepare for rigging and hoisting activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating cranes.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for registration as a registered apprentice, or
  • Current registration as an apprentice.
  • A strong motivation to learn and grow in the field.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must agree to a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict-of-Interest Agreement, and a Confidentiality and Invention Agreement upon hiring.

Qualifications Required:

Trade Apprentice or higher in Crane & Hoisting Equipment Operator or a related discipline.

Experience and Certifications:

Relevant experience and certifications in crane operation are preferred.
