Position Summary

We are currently in search of Trainee Painters to contribute to our Fabrication Shops in Airdrie, AB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the amount of materials needed by measuring surfaces or reviewing work orders.
  • Choose suitable paint and mix according to established formulas.
  • Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents, or otherwise prepare items for paint application or protective coatings.
  • Manage automated spray paint, dip, or flow coating machinery or other mechanized painting equipment.
  • Utilize hand-held spray guns to apply paint or protective coatings to stationary items.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sandblasting and wrapping.
  • Paint smaller items and perform touch-ups using brushes.
  • Maintain painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air tools, and personal protective gear.
  • Follow instructions diligently and work towards achieving defined goals and timelines for project completion.
  • Apply knowledge and skills acquired from mentors to ensure successful completion of the apprenticeship program.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for registration as a registered apprentice; or
  • Current registration as an apprentice.
  • A strong motivation to learn and grow.
  • As a condition of employment, new hires must sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and a Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.
