Job Summary:
The Community Support Counselor - Peer Specialist will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The ideal candidate will have significant personal experience with mental health services and be able to provide education, support, and consultation to families and individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
- Provide education, support, and consultation to families and individuals
- Act as a role model, promoting hope and empowerment in clients' recovery
- Enhance team engagement with clients
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent human services experience
- Minimum 3 years front-line care-taking experience in the community
- Significant lived personal experience with the mental health system
- Familiarity with mental health legislation and reform
- Excellent assessment, crisis intervention, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
