The Office of the Registrar at U of T Mississauga plays a pivotal role in delivering essential registrarial services that align with the academic objectives of the university. Our mission centers on effective and sustainable strategic enrollment management, focusing on student recruitment, retention, success, and graduation. In a collaborative culture, we strive to achieve our goals through student-centered solutions, the integrity of academic records, and continuous improvements in our processes.

As a Student Recruitment Officer, you will report to the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment and will be instrumental in driving local and national recruitment initiatives. You will collaborate with team members to formulate and execute strategies aimed at enhancing U of T Mississauga's recruitment and enrollment outcomes. Your role will involve promoting the university to secondary schools, colleges, and the broader community to attract the most qualified candidates.

The Student Recruitment Officer will take charge of planning, coordinating, and representing U of T Mississauga at various recruitment events, delivering engaging recruitment programs. You will provide timely and accurate guidance to prospective students, their families, and guidance counselors, fostering positive relationships throughout the recruitment process. Additionally, you will analyze recruitment trends and develop innovative strategies to enhance our outreach efforts. Evaluating current recruitment activities through statistical analysis will also be part of your responsibilities, allowing you to propose necessary changes and new initiatives.

As part of your duties, you will assist in coordinating campus visit programs, which includes selecting, training, and supervising student ambassadors. Ensuring they are well-informed about the admissions process and university programs will be crucial. You will also work to build strong relationships with academic divisions, departments, and student groups to keep them informed about recruitment activities and encourage their participation.

Extensive travel within and outside the province will be required during certain periods, and you will be responsible for making your own travel arrangements. You will set up presentation equipment and deliver multiple presentations daily, as well as manage promotional materials weighing up to 25 lbs.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Building and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies.
  • Identifying appropriate schools for visits based on market analysis and feedback.
  • Delivering compelling student recruitment presentations.
  • Promoting academic programs at recruitment events.
  • Advising potential applicants and stakeholders on admissions criteria and processes.
  • Conducting evaluations and analyses post-events to recommend improvements.
  • Preparing reports and summaries based on collected data.
  • Fostering positive relationships with prospective students.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a university or post-secondary setting.
  • Experience in student recruitment and familiarity with related issues in admissions and university life.
  • Proven ability to present to diverse audiences and coordinate group events.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Knowledge of high school curricula and university admission requirements.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
