Records and Privacy Management Specialist

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a meticulous and results-driven professional to fulfill the role of Records and Privacy Management Specialist within the Legislative Services team. This pivotal position is tasked with leading the development, execution, coordination, and maintenance of the City's comprehensive information management and privacy initiatives. The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight for the City's records management framework and evaluate departmental practices, policies, and procedures related to records management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver strategic guidance and expertise on the City's records management framework.
- Oversee and provide counsel on access requests concerning sensitive information, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations, as well as file retention and liability considerations.
- Serve as the City's Privacy Officer, managing the dissemination of sensitive information and optimizing records and information management workflows.
- Act as a representative for the City during inquiries conducted by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
- Collaborate with various City Departments to enhance records and information management processes, while organizing and leading committees and working groups to support the records management framework.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Library and Information Studies, Information Management, Archival Studies, Records Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years of recent professional experience in information management, specifically in Records Management and FOIPPA, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Extensive understanding of records and information management systems, both electronic and paper-based.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, rules, and regulations governing the field.
- Familiarity with legal claim processes, municipal departmental functions, and related policies and procedures.
- A strong commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
