The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a meticulous and results-driven professional to take on the role of Records and Privacy Advisor within the Legislative Services department. This pivotal position serves as the organizational lead and corporate consultant, responsible for the strategic development, planning, execution, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of the City's comprehensive information management and privacy program. The role encompasses providing strategic oversight on the corporate records management initiative and evaluating the records management practices, policies, and procedures across various City departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer strategic guidance and expertise on the City's corporate records management initiatives.
- Supervise and provide counsel on responses to requests for access to sensitive information, ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and regulations, as well as file retention and liability considerations.
- Serve as the City's Privacy Officer, overseeing the distribution of sensitive information and optimizing records and information management processes.
- Represent the City during inquiries conducted by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
- Collaborate with various City Departments to enhance records and information management practices, and lead committees and working groups in support of the records management initiative.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Library and Information Studies, Information Management, Archival Studies, Records Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years of recent professional experience in information management, specifically in Records Management and FOIPPA, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
- Extensive familiarity with records and information management systems, both electronic and paper-based.
- Comprehensive understanding of the legislation, rules, and regulations governing the field.
- Awareness of legal claim processes, municipal departmental functions, and relevant policies and procedures.
- A strong commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement.
