Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Environment, Health and Safety, the Overnight Production Manager plays a crucial role in the design, execution, and management of environmental initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to environmental policies, risk management strategies, and continuous improvement processes in line with international standards and legislative requirements.
  • Lead a dedicated team of professionals to enhance organizational performance and support internal leaders in managing environmental risks and incidents.
  • Oversee the environmental audit program to identify compliance gaps and manage corrective actions effectively.
  • Assist in the serious incident review process and collaborate with the Director of EHS to resolve environmental challenges.
  • Direct all proactive and reactive environmental program activities, including the maintenance and enhancement of ISO 14001 management system components.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for the organization’s environmental policies, business plans, and programs.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments for utility projects, offering solutions to mitigate negative impacts and promote sustainability.
  • Analyze environmental data to identify trends and drive improvements in EHS programs.
  • Prepare internal and external compliance reports and support the completion of annual plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders to pinpoint environmental risks, set objectives, and develop continuous improvement programs.
  • Design and implement comprehensive environmental programs, procedures, and training sessions.
  • Manage escalated environmental issues and coordinate with regulatory agencies, providing emergency support as necessary.
  • Supervise a team delivering planned and reactive environmental client support, including consultations and incident investigations.
  • Lead investigations related to environmental concerns and provide frontline EHS leadership during incidents.
  • Review client environmental compliance, formulate improvement strategies, and monitor their execution.
  • Continuously review and update environmental policies, processes, and systems.
  • Present environmental performance data, offer recommendations, and implement improvement plans.
  • Oversee daily operations of a small internal team and external experts, managing safety, attendance, performance, and professional development.
  • Initiate and execute departmental environment, health, and safety projects to enhance performance outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental science, health, safety, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in environmental program design, development, implementation, and reporting, including auditing.
  • At least two years of experience in environmental program design.
  • Three to five years of leadership experience in managing people and projects.
  • Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Environmental Professional (EP) is preferred.
  • Experience with environmental management systems (EHSMS) is highly desirable.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field is an asset.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 compliance standards and environmental management practices is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of current environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and change management.
