Position Overview: The role involves the assembly process of rubber strips to create circular gaskets using heated molds.

Shift Details: Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Employment Type: This is a permanent, full-time position.

Compensation: $24.45 per hour (comprising $22.85 base pay plus a $1.60 shift premium), along with comprehensive benefits and RRSP contributions starting from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and tidy workspace before commencing tasks.
  • Confirm that the mold has reached the necessary temperature prior to beginning the splicing process.
  • Prepare rubber strips for splicing, which may include dipping, sanding, heating, and cleaning the ends.
  • Inspect rubber strips for straight cuts and clean edges before splicing.
  • Load tape rolls into the machine and conduct visual quality checks.
  • Insert gaskets into the press and position splicing tape as required.
  • Close the mold and monitor the auto timer for curing.
  • Remove the finished gasket and eliminate any excess material.
  • Conduct visual inspections for defects such as cracks, lumps, and pinholes.
  • Inject silicone into the gaskets as needed.
  • Utilize a pneumatic anvil to break the splice seal.
  • Place gaskets on the silicone spreader and check for leaks.
  • Package completed gaskets and ensure the correct quantity is placed in each box.
  • Document and record all necessary information accurately.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by supervision to meet production goals.
  • Adhere to company quality standards and production requirements.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in basic English.
  • Willingness to learn and use various measuring tools relevant to the gasket manufacturing process.

Challenges & Decision-Making:

  • Identify and report quality issues and machine malfunctions to the Shift Supervisor.

Interactions:

  • Daily communication with the Shift Supervisor, Lead Hand, and Quality Assurance Inspector.
  • Occasional interactions with the Production Manager, Operational Excellence Team, Health & Safety Manager, Plant Manager, and other departments as necessary.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires nearly 100% time spent in a plant setting, involving light physical labor, including lifting, pulling (up to 15 lbs), standing, and walking.
  • Personal safety is paramount, with considerations for exposure to heat and the operation of light press equipment.
  • Compliance with workplace Health & Safety regulations is essential, in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
