Situated in the heart of Hamilton, our facility provides cutting-edge medical services and hosts several regional referral programs. Our neurosciences and trauma departments are leaders in managing complex cases, while our stroke program has developed an integrated care model. Additionally, our burn treatment unit is one of only two in the province, and our cardiac program conducts the highest volume of heart surgeries and procedures in Ontario.

Our Diagnostic Services team caters to a diverse patient population, offering 24/7 services in various modalities, including X-Ray, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology.

Position Overview

As a vital member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Radiological Technologist is responsible for coordinating, executing, and assessing Diagnostic Services examinations. This role involves mentoring clinical and technical staff as well as students in a dynamic teaching and research environment. Our technologists are committed to delivering patient care aligned with HHS's core values of respect, compassion, innovation, and accountability.

At Hamilton General Hospital, Radiological Technologists utilize state-of-the-art equipment, including the Operating Room O-Arm. They receive comprehensive orientation and have opportunities to gain experience in other areas such as CT. Collaborating closely with our Emergency Department, trauma, and Operating Room teams, our technologists ensure seamless patient care throughout the healthcare journey. Rotation through various modalities and locations may be necessary based on qualifications and departmental needs.

Work Schedule

Shifts will include rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with standby as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Professional designation as a Registered Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT)
  • Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Evidence of ongoing education and professional development
  • Membership in CAMRT/OAMRS is preferred

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be submitted to Employee Health Services.
