Situated in the heart of Hamilton, Hamilton General Hospital delivers cutting-edge medical care and hosts several regional referral programs. Our neurosciences and trauma program is a provincial leader in both the volume and complexity of care provided. The HGH stroke initiative has pioneered an integrated care approach, and our burn treatment program is one of only two in Ontario. The cardiac and vascular program conducts more heart surgeries and procedures than any other facility in the province.

Our Diagnostic Services team caters to a high volume of diverse adult and pediatric patients and families, providing services in most areas 24/7. Diagnostic Services at HHS encompasses X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology.

Position Overview

As a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Certified Radiologic Technologist coordinates, executes, and assesses Diagnostic Services examinations, while mentoring and guiding clinical and technical associates and students in a teaching and research environment. Our technologists deliver patient care aligned with HHS's core values of respect, compassion, innovation, and accountability.

Radiologic Technologists at Hamilton General Hospital utilize state-of-the-art equipment, including the Operating Room O-Arm. Our technologists receive comprehensive orientation and have opportunities for cross-training in other areas such as CT. They collaborate closely with our Emergency Department, trauma, and Operating Room teams to ensure seamless patient care throughout the patient's journey. Rotation through other modalities and sites based on qualifications and unit needs may be necessary.

Work Schedule

Rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays (standby as required).

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program
  • Current member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Professional designation of Registered Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and the capacity to prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Evidence of ongoing education and professional development
  • Membership in CAMRT/OAMRS is preferred

As a condition of employment, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required.
