Job Summary

The CIBC Breast Assessment Centre is a multidisciplinary breast assessment centre that brings together expertise in radiology, pathology, surgery, medical radiation technology, ultrasound, nursing, and genetic counselling. The centre provides rapid diagnostic evaluation to women who are symptomatic and/or have a screen-detected abnormality identified through routine breast screening or cancer surveillance screening, ensuring timely navigation to surgical or medical treatment. The centre also provides radiological support for breast surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and assess mammographic images to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Participate in planning and organizing patient activities related to breast screening and diagnostic assessment.
  • Provide optimum patient care and demonstrate a professional manner in the work setting.
  • Assist in related activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) is required.
  • Able to demonstrate successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Mammography I and II or the process of acquiring successful completion.
  • Successful completion of the Certificate of Breast Imaging (CBI) is required or in the process of acquiring successful completion within a mutually agreed-upon time frame.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent experience as a practicing Mammographer, with advanced skills supporting radiologists in complex procedures, including stereotactic biopsies, needle localization, and radioactive seed placement, and protocol exams for assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian Association of Radiologists Mammography Accreditation Program (MAP).
  • Demonstrated effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated good computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Meditech, PACS).
  • Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in a team environment and to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, and staff.
  • Evidence of participation in ongoing education and professional development.
  • Certified with the Ontario Breast Screening Program.
  • Current membership in the CAMRT/OAMRS is preferred.
  • Commitment to meet goals and objectives of the department.
