Occupational Therapist Position

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority, working under the supervision of the Manager. This dynamic professional collaborates with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain patients' optimal levels of function in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure. The Occupational Therapist provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services while working within the hospital, client's home, and/or community settings.
Key Responsibilities- Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients
- Independently manage a busy caseload and utilize clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis
- Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
- Function as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary hospital and/or community healthcare team
- Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines, and provide supervision of OT Assistants
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist who possesses the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
- BLS-C certification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
- Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- $42.90 Hourly
