Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion all safety initiatives on the project and promote the Gilbane Cares safety culture.
  • Ensure that contractor activities are proactively planned for safety through scope assessments, preconstruction discussions, job hazard analysis, and safety task analysis.
  • Verify that contractors fulfill Gilbane's safety documentation requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety-related records.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Gilbane's safety protocols and expectations.
  • Provide recommendations regarding situations that pose risks to employee safety or health.
  • Utilize SafetyNet to audit and monitor the project team's implementation of the Safety Plan.
  • Conduct a minimum of 15 SafetyNet inspections monthly, with at least 100 observations per inspection.
  • Guide project teams in effective hazard identification and resolution using SafetyNet.
  • Analyze SafetyNet trending reports with the project team and formulate action plans.
  • Deliver safety training to project teams on Gilbane, client, and OSHA standards.
  • Investigate all incidents and near misses, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Act as the project liaison and manage correspondence with insurance providers.
  • Oversee the development and supervision of project safety managers.
  • Ensure project teams are equipped with necessary safety gear and resources.

Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • BCSP certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Bachelor's degree in health and safety, construction management, or a related field.
  • Certification as an OSHA 500 Trainer.
  • Or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of construction safety and health principles, techniques, methods, regulations, and interpretations.
  • Practical understanding of OSHA laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Adept at identifying current and potential future risks and recommending corrective measures.
  • Proficient in computer skills and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
