POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting directly to the General Manager of the facility, the Support Services Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of Food, Housekeeping, and Laundry services, ensuring compliance with established regulations and corporate standards. This role involves providing guidance, supervision, and constructive feedback to the assigned team while exemplifying professionalism and representing the Support Services departments effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Motivate and engage your team to fulfill the organization's objectives and key results.
- Act as a collaborative team member, fostering professional relationships that enhance the organizational culture.
- Exemplify the organization's values and leadership behaviors, inspiring others to follow suit.
- Contribute to the creation and adherence to corporate and site-specific operational policies and procedures.
- Assist in managing departmental budgets.
- Help formulate operational plans and goals aligned with the facility's mission and strategic vision.
- Collect and analyze performance metrics and surveys, reporting findings to management as necessary.
- Develop action plans in collaboration with the General Manager and other corporate resources.
- Oversee procurement tasks, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Maintain inventory levels to minimize waste and loss.
- Participate in the hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination processes in accordance with HR policies.
- Facilitate orientation for new employees using established training programs.
- Coordinate training and educational opportunities for staff in Food Services, Housekeeping, and Laundry.
- Assess staff performance and recommend improvement strategies as needed.
- Design and implement seasonal menus that meet nutritional and therapeutic requirements.
- Adjust standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality and resident satisfaction.
- Supervise the preparation and service of high-quality meals in line with industry standards.
- Organize regular departmental meetings and participate in facility-wide meetings as required.
- Collaborate with other departments for the planning and execution of special events and programs.
- Develop and implement contingency plans for service interruptions.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to resident safety at the community level.
- Work collaboratively with all team members and supervisors.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Graduation from an accredited program in Nutrition and Food Services Management.
- Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management or Registered Dietician is required.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification is mandatory; Level 2 is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in Support Services within a geriatric residential setting.
- Experience managing unionized staff is an asset.
- Current Serving It Right Certification is required.
- All successful candidates must pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check as per provincial guidelines.
- Commitment to high standards of customer service and cleanliness.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols.
- Professional demeanor and good physical health.
- Proven planning, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in operating kitchen, housekeeping, and laundry equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Solid knowledge of office equipment and Windows-based software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Capacity to build harmonious relationships with staff, residents, families, and visitors.
