Position Summary:

We are looking for passionate and innovative individuals to take on the role of Recreation Leader within our organization. In this position, you will oversee a range of seasonal activities designed to foster a supportive and engaging atmosphere for children aged 3-12. Your responsibilities will include organizing and conducting enjoyable, educational, and interactive sessions in various disciplines such as sports, arts, and culinary activities, ensuring that every participant has a rewarding experience. Promoting inclusivity, friendship, and a sense of belonging are fundamental to healthy childhood development, and our organization adheres to the HIGH FIVE principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
  2. Design, organize, and lead diverse recreational programs for children aged 3-12, focusing on activities such as Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Lacrosse, fitness, cooking, crafting, painting, gymnastics, and dance.
  3. Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.
  4. Integrate educational elements into recreational programming.
  5. Assist in the preparation and cleanup of materials and equipment for activities.
  6. Maintain effective communication with participants, parents, and colleagues.

Essential Skills:

  1. Strong experience working with children, including babysitting or early childhood education.
  2. Background in recreational activities with children.
  3. Ability to monitor and manage equipment used by children and facility resources.
  4. Collaborate with team members and community partners to enhance program offerings.
  5. Experience in competitive sports or participation in specialized skills/clubs.
  6. Capability to provide educational support during activities.
  7. Enthusiasm for engaging and educating participants of all ages.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or in progress.
  2. Experience working with children.
  3. Prior experience in teamwork and collaboration.
  4. Strong leadership abilities in guiding children, providing instructions, and teaching new skills.
  5. Ability to independently plan programs for an 8-week duration, ensuring all criteria are met.
  6. Problem-solving skills to address challenges while prioritizing children's safety.
  7. Willingness to learn and apply new behavior management techniques.
  8. First Aid certification is required; food safety handling certification is necessary for kitchen work.
  9. Understanding of the four principles of healthy development is beneficial and will be required within the first month of employment.
  10. Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures.
  11. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.

Compensation: $16.20-$17.20 per hour
