Position Overview

The Automation Control Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of machinery and equipment. This involves precise programming and modifications of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) as well as testing and repairing electronic components as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Provide plant support for troubleshooting, repairs, and system enhancements.
  • Identify and procure safety components, including light curtains and safety relays.
  • Stay updated on PLC programming standards, robotic safety, and new safety technologies.
  • Oversee complete project implementation, from concept to commissioning.
  • Assist in testing, repairing, and calibrating electrical or electronic components.
  • Maintain and upgrade all PLC-related software and assist in training staff on electronic systems.
  • Design control systems and develop innovative concepts.
  • Utilize computer programming, AutoCAD, and Office applications effectively.
  • Consistently attend work as scheduled.
  • Approach daily tasks and challenges with a positive mindset.
  • Maintain professionalism when providing or receiving feedback.
Ideal Candidate

We are seeking someone who:

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and collaborates effectively with colleagues.
  • Possesses experience in robotic and machine automation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education and eligibility for registration as a C.E.T., along with three years of electrical experience, particularly with various PLC and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and implementation (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Experience in safety circuit design, program startup, verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in HMI development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems setup and maintenance.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Office applications.
