POSITION OVERVIEW

The Beneficiary Support Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating the activities of a team of beneficiary attendants, ensuring effective collaboration and training.

This position involves overseeing the integration of essential knowledge, particularly in the following areas:
- Principles of safe beneficiary movement (PDSB)
- Infection prevention and control
- Relational care approaches (ARS)

The specialist may also be tasked with the installation of specific devices for which they have received appropriate training. Additionally, they are responsible for the availability, maintenance, and functionality of necessary equipment and materials, as well as the transportation of equipment, collected samples, and medical records.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR)

The specialist will engage in various activities related to the reprocessing of medical devices, adhering to established standards and protocols.


Responsibilities include:
  • Collecting, sorting, inspecting, cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing medical devices;
  • Operating and maintaining various MDR equipment (e.g., washer-disinfector, ultrasonic washer, autoclave);
  • Conducting quality control tests as recommended by the MDR Nursing Counsellor and documenting results according to procedures;
  • Distributing medical devices to service points based on needs;
  • Maintaining the inventory of medical devices;
  • Ensuring the upkeep of the MDR room;
  • Participating in the training of staff assigned to MDR and serving as a resource for the team;
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the MDR program;
  • Assisting in the evaluation and procurement of new MDR-related equipment;
  • Performing any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

The specialist will collaborate closely with the Regional IPC Team to perform various tasks.


Responsibilities include:
  • Providing basic IPC training for both clinical and non-clinical staff;
  • Participating in IPC compliance audits.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

As part of the MDR and IPC training and audit responsibilities, the specialist may be required to support other centers with prior authorization from their supervisor.


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • DEP in Homecare or related experience is an asset.

Applicants lacking the above qualifications may still be considered if they possess the following alternative profile:


Alternative Profile:
  • No specific diploma;
  • Three to four years of relevant experience;
  • Successful completion of a reading and writing test.

Experience:
  • One year of experience in medical device reprocessing;
  • One year of experience in sterilization.

Additional Requirements:

Must register and complete the online MDR training within six months of obtaining the position.
