**NATURE OF WORK**
Under the supervision of the SAES Director, the SAES’ superintendent manages technical, administrative, and manual activities and services related to the preventive and corrective maintenance of all Learning Centers, their equipment, and systems.
He/She oversees all vocational projects and supervises multiple employees and third-party contracts related to building prevention and maintenance. He/She ensures the proper operation and repairs of various automated and non-automated systems as well as the monitoring and upkeep of an inventory system related to maintenance and upkeep for the facilities and its equipment.
Within his or her fields of competence/expertise, he/she provides advisory services and functional expertise to SAES’ managers and ensures the overall health and safety compliance of operations and services.
**In particular, the SAES superintendent assumes the following responsibilities**:
- Develops and implements preventive and corrective maintenance plans for all SAES’ Learning Centers;
- Manages all emergency situations including flooding, gas leaks, hazardous material spills, etc.;
- Assists in drafting, negotiating, and monitoring maintenance service contracts for all learning centers;
- Manages and supervises all work performed related to third-party service contracts for all centers;
- Performs diagnostics analysis on all heavy and stationary machinery and equipment as well as on all automated and non-automated systems including intrusion detection systems;
- Manages all artificial and natural gas systems;
- Manages heavy equipment machinery maintenance program;
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment machinery;
- Manages maintenance and ability to operate, troubleshoot, and repair simulators;
- Manages and possesses ability to operate, troubleshoots, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and machinery;
- Supervises the preparation of plans, specifications and budget estimates related to all vocational start-up trainings;
- Inspects, monitors and ensures upkeep of all Learning Centers;
- Ensures the proper functioning of all automated and non-automated systems related to the prevention, operation, and maintenance of all SAES Learning Centers;
- Produces technical documents required for the planning of vocational training projects;
- Participates in the preparation of calls for tender;
- Performs diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs to automated and non-automated equipment and machinery;
- Participates in and monitors budgets related to building maintenance and upkeep;
- Monitors and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies related to prevention and maintenance of all Learning Centers and their vocational trainings;
- Guides, mentors, and supervises employees as well as student stagiaires;
- Assists SAES managers, as required;
- Travels to all learning centers within Eeyou Istchee to ensure maintenance and regular monitoring of all systems;
- Assumes, when required, the transmission of all relevant information to support SAES managers;
**In managing the human, financial, material and information resources of his or her area of activity/expertise**:
- Supervises and evaluates staff under his/her responsibility;
- Assesses the training needs of SAES’s maintenance staff;
- Participates in the development and updating of information resources;
- Participates on all SAES Health and Safety Committees;
- Ensures compliance with all CNESST regulations;
- Actively participates in and promotes all CNESST updates to staff and centers;
- Represents, on request, SAES on matters relating to his/her area of activity/expertise;
Assumes any other responsibilities compatible with his/her function that his/her immediate supervisor may assign.
**Qualifications**
- Training and experience in engineering mechanics
- 10 years of relevant experience in project management, building maintenance and repair as well as managing third-party contracts is essential;
- Relevant training and/or experience in project and process methodology;
- Relevant training and/or experience in multiple vocational disciplines including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, etc.;
- Relevant training and/or experience operating aerial lift machinery;
- Experience with Cree stakeholders is a strong asset;
