Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC). As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for the provision of administrative and technical support related to research, planning, implementation, trouble-shooting, and day-to-day operation of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure Management
    • Install, maintain, and support all IT infrastructure, including servers and storage, virtualization, databases, backup, replication, datacenter technologies, cloud solutions, telephone, and disaster recovery systems.
    • Work closely with Manager-IT Infrastructure, Manager-IT Application Support, and third-party vendors to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions, improve existing infrastructure capabilities, and review and provide recommendations on new technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Run diagnostics, troubleshoot, and test hardware, operating system, and customized software.
    • Analyze and repair Windows and Linux O/S issues.
    • Maintain effective operating conditions of equipment, including regular back-ups and patching of systems.
  • Administrative Support
    • Run regularly, a suite of administrative applications to meet contractual service levels.
    • Generate application output for management review.
  • Preventative Maintenance
    • Conduct hardware preventative maintenance.
  • On-Call Support
    • Participate in an after-hours on-call support rotation as required.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Future Planning
    • Understand key business processes and corporate plans and recommend improvements to the information technology environment to keep pace with industry standard practices and business objectives.
    • Provide input to the planning, design, and implementation of the technical architecture plans.
  • Guidance and Support
    • Provide guidance to internal infrastructure projects and other IT support staff.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
    • Contribute to, and execute as needed, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Maintain installation, configuration, and design documentation for all infrastructure, software, and operating system environments.

Requirements

  • A university degree or diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years' relevant experience.
  • Certifications in Microsoft, VMWare, Fortinet, Dell.
