Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Innovative Model Development

Plasman, a prominent global player in the automotive and manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled professional to enhance our engineering team. With over 45 years of industry experience, we pride ourselves on our collaborative culture and commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the corporate estimating team to generate comprehensive RFQ responses for new projects. Analyze past project challenges to ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated to the design development team. Lead the assembly strategy process, including machine design and build, across North American facilities. Facilitate feasibility studies with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, ensuring thorough follow-up to achieve project closure. Oversee the assembly strategy process, coordinating machine design and build activities. Manage the RFQ process for outsourcing equipment, ensuring competitive supplier selection. Develop manufacturing strategy plans, managing CAPEX requirements and budgets for equipment purchases. Participate in the commissioning and implementation of equipment for secondary operations as necessary. Provide guidance on assembly ECN reviews and standard operating procedures as required by the plants. Support the development of automation standards and periodically review them with cross-functional teams. Assist the program management group with technical support related to product and equipment development. Engage in facility program activities alongside manufacturing engineers as needed. Identify benchmark conditions from current and competing parts to inform new product development.

Qualifications:

A recognized Engineering Technical diploma in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Strong knowledge of Integrated Manufacturing and Design principles applicable to both OEM and manufacturing environments.

Experience:

A minimum of 7 years of experience in the automotive engineering field. Familiarity with 3D modeling software is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. In-depth knowledge of plastics joining methods, including sonic welding, vibration welding, screw assembly, bonding, and vision systems. Comprehensive understanding of automotive exterior plastics. Proficient in integrated manufacturing technology as it pertains to facility operations.
