Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Innovative Model Development
As a key player in our engineering team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with various departments including estimating, operations, engineering, and procurement to ensure that new assembly methods are optimized for cost efficiency, production speed, safety, and durability.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the corporate estimating team by preparing responses for new RFQ quotations. Document lessons learned from new model programs, ensuring that past issues are communicated effectively to the design development team. Lead the assembly strategy process through machine design and construction as necessary. Facilitate feasibility studies with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, ensuring thorough follow-up to resolution. Oversee the assembly strategy process through machine design and construction. Manage the RFQ process for outsourcing equipment. Evaluate supplier quotes and make recommendations in collaboration with the purchasing department and assembly plant agreements. Develop manufacturing strategy plans for capital expenditure requirements and oversee the budget for acquired equipment. Participate in the commissioning, sign-off, and implementation of equipment for secondary operations as required. Provide support for assembly engineering change notices and guidance to standard operating procedures as needed. Contribute to the development and periodic review of automation standards with cross-functional teams, and assess local automation suppliers to enhance competitive pricing. Assist the program management team with technical product support and equipment development. Engage in facility program activities alongside manufacturing engineers as necessary. Identify benchmark conditions on existing and competing components that can be leveraged for new product development.Minimum Education / Designation Requirements:
A recognized Engineering Technical diploma in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Familiarity with Integrated Manufacturing and Design principles related to both OEM and manufacturing facilities is essential.Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in the automotive engineering sector is required. Proficiency in additional 3D modeling software is advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Extensive knowledge of plastic joining techniques such as sonic welding, vibration welding, screw assembly, bonding, and vision systems is required. A solid understanding of automotive exterior plastics is necessary. Knowledge of integrated manufacturing technology as it pertains to the facility is expected.Other Requirements:
