Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Innovative Model Development

Plasman, a prominent global player in the automotive and manufacturing sector, is on the lookout for a skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer specializing in innovative model development. This role is pivotal in collaborating with various departments, including estimating, operations, engineering, and procurement, to ensure that new assembly methodologies are optimized for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, safety, and durability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the corporate estimating team by generating responses for new RFQ quotations.
  • Facilitate lessons learned from new model programs, ensuring that past issues are communicated effectively to the design development team.
  • Lead the assembly strategy process through machine design and construction as necessary.
  • Drive feasibility studies with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, ensuring thorough follow-up until resolution.
  • Oversee the assembly strategy process through machine design and build.
  • Prepare the RFQ process for outsourcing equipment.
  • Evaluate quotes and select suppliers in collaboration with the purchasing team and assembly plant agreements.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing strategy plans for CAPEX requirements and manage the budget for acquired equipment.
  • Participate in the commissioning, sign-off, and implementation of equipment for secondary operations as needed.
  • Support AMEs in assembly ECN reviews and provide guidance to SOP as required.
  • Uphold Automation Standards and conduct periodic reviews with cross-functional teams to enhance local automation supply base for competitive pricing.
  • Provide technical support to the program management group regarding product and equipment build.
  • Engage in facility program activities alongside manufacturing engineers as necessary.
  • Identify benchmark conditions on current and competing components applicable to new product development.

Minimum Education / Designation Requirements:

  • A recognized Engineering Technical diploma in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Manufacturing and Design principles related to both OEM and manufacturing facilities.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the automotive engineering sector is essential.
  • Proficiency in additional 3D modeling software is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastics joining methods, including sonic welding, vibration welding, screw assembly, bonding, and vision systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive exterior plastics.
  • Knowledgeable in integrated manufacturing technology as it pertains to the facility.

  • Willingness to travel independently to various facilities.
