Position Overview:

Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - New Model Development

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - New Model Development will collaborate with estimating, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure that new assembly strategies are optimized for cost, efficiency, safety, and durability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the corporate estimating team by generating new RFQ quotation responses.
  • Facilitate lessons learned for new model programs, ensuring that past issues are documented and communicated effectively to the design development team.
  • Lead the assembly strategy process through machine design and build as necessary.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, ensuring thorough follow-up to resolution.
  • Oversee the assembly strategy process through machine design and construction.
  • Prepare RFQ processes for outsourcing equipment.
  • Review supplier quotes and collaborate with purchasing to finalize agreements.
  • Develop manufacturing strategy plans for CAPEX requirements and manage budgets for equipment purchases.
  • Participate in the commissioning, sign-off, and implementation of equipment for secondary operations as required.
  • Support AMEs in assembly ECN reviews and provide guidance to SOP as needed.
  • Contribute to Automation Standards and conduct periodic reviews with cross-functional teams to evaluate local automation suppliers for competitive pricing.
  • Assist the program management group with product technical support and equipment development.
  • Engage in facility program activities alongside manufacturing engineers as required.
  • Identify benchmark conditions on current and competing parts that can be applied to new products in early development.

Minimum Education/Qualifications:

  • A recognized Engineering Technical diploma in a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proficient in Integrated Manufacturing and Design, particularly in relation to both OEM and manufacturing facilities.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the automotive engineering sector is required.
  • Experience with additional 3D modeling software is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastics joining methods, including sonic welding, vibration welding, screw assembly, bonding, and vision systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive exterior plastics.
  • Familiarity with integrated manufacturing technology as it pertains to the facility.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel independently to other facilities as necessary.
