Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:
Gordon Food Service is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations and administering all health and safety related functions in our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all day-to-day health and safety related functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Determine and describe causes and impacts of problems, providing clear and concise recommendations for improvement.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety initiatives, including training programs and emergency response plans.
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager in monitoring employees on modified duty, working closely with HR and WCB to ensure timely return-to-work.
- Chair monthly Occupational Health and Safety meetings and participate in the monthly CND Health & Safety Council meetings.
- Conduct on-site orientations for new hires, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties safely.
- Collect, review, and analyze internal incident reports and investigations, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in health and safety or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Self-starter with good time management and documentation skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Microsoft Excel and Word, with familiarity with Google Platform an asset.
