Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Vice President of Asset Operations to be located at our corporate headquarters. As a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, this position encompasses comprehensive operational and financial oversight for our fleet, facilities, and procurement strategies. The Senior Vice President will ensure that the asset management team collaborates effectively with key stakeholders across the organization to deliver safe and reliable facilities and equipment that align with our standards while enhancing utilization and optimizing costs. The ideal candidate will exhibit a professional demeanor, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and maintain a collaborative approach.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  1. A university degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Possession of a P.Eng designation or its equivalent.
  3. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and a strong business acumen; strategic mindset with a focus on tactical execution; self-motivated and results-oriented; adept at managing priorities and fostering a performance-driven culture.
  4. In-depth technical knowledge of transport vehicles, maintenance protocols, and project management systems.
  5. Extensive understanding of real estate, facility design, construction, and maintenance practices.
  6. Expertise in procurement strategies and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead safety initiatives and drive the team towards achieving zero injuries, developing necessary policies and training programs to ensure employee safety.
  2. Establish and implement an asset management framework, defining key performance indicators and management structures while overseeing metrics for continuous improvement.
  3. Oversee the development and adherence to fleet maintenance budgets, preparing and presenting financial projections.
  4. Manage facility budgets for all terminals and maintenance shops, ensuring effective planning for maintenance projects.
  5. Collaborate closely with operations to gather input and feedback.
  6. Direct capital expenditure strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term forecasting.
  7. Ensure fleet requirements are met to support operational needs, optimizing lifecycle costs and maintaining accurate fleet data.
  8. Develop and implement maintenance plans to enhance fleet reliability and utilization.
  9. Oversee internal maintenance shop performance and strategic direction.
  10. Manage external maintenance contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  11. Ensure all facilities meet safety and maintenance standards, conducting regular assessments and managing project statuses.
  12. Oversee the real estate portfolio, ensuring optimal facility locations and managing complex real estate issues.
  13. Direct procurement policies and strategic sourcing initiatives across the organization.
  14. Foster continuous improvement in maintenance operations and lead cross-functional projects as required.
  15. Mentor and develop maintenance and engineering leaders, promoting professional growth and adherence to performance standards.
  16. Collaborate with various departments to achieve operational goals and address facility and fleet-related issues.
  17. Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations, developing supportive policies for management.
  18. Provide strategic guidance to affiliate companies regarding equipment purchases and maintenance programs.
