Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Vice President of Asset Operations to be located at our corporate headquarters. As a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, this position entails comprehensive operational and financial oversight of our fleet, facilities, and procurement processes. The Senior Vice President will ensure that the asset management team collaborates effectively with key stakeholders across the organization to deliver safe and dependable facilities and equipment that align with our high standards while enhancing utilization and optimizing costs. The ideal candidate will exhibit a professional demeanor, demonstrate urgency, and maintain a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  1. A university degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Possession of a P.Eng designation or equivalent qualifications.
  3. Exceptional communication abilities, adept at influencing others, possessing strong business acumen, strategic vision, and tactical execution skills. A self-motivated, results-oriented individual capable of effectively managing priorities and fostering a performance-driven leadership culture.
  4. Extensive technical expertise in transport vehicles, including trucks and auxiliary equipment, along with familiarity with maintenance protocols, repair needs, computerized maintenance management systems, and project management.
  5. In-depth knowledge of real estate, facility design, construction, and maintenance. Capable of providing strategic oversight for property management and large-scale improvement initiatives.
  6. Understanding of procurement strategies and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead safety initiatives and drive the department towards achieving zero injuries, ensuring accountability for safety performance through the development of relevant policies and training programs.
  2. Establish a comprehensive asset management framework and strategy, including process development, key performance indicators, defined roles, and daily management structures. Monitor metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and prepare reports for management meetings.
  3. Oversee the fleet maintenance budget, ensuring compliance and presenting budget forecasts while directing long-term planning for maintenance expenditures.
  4. Manage the facilities budget for all terminals and maintenance shops, preparing budget projections and overseeing special maintenance projects.
  5. Collaborate closely with operations to gather input and feedback.
  6. Direct overall capital expenditures, including strategic direction and execution for both facilities and fleet budgets, ensuring a long-term vision for capital spending.
  7. Oversee fleet requirements to meet operational demands, ensuring optimal fleet size and equipment specifications while managing lifecycle costs.
  8. Develop and implement maintenance plans to enhance fleet reliability and utilization, ensuring all technicians are equipped with the necessary tools and training.
  9. Ensure all internal maintenance shops meet performance and safety standards, optimizing maintenance costs and equipment utilization.
  10. Manage external maintenance contracts to ensure quality repairs and compliance with performance expectations.
  11. Ensure all facilities meet safety and maintenance standards, conducting regular property assessments and overseeing special projects.
  12. Direct the management of the real estate portfolio, ensuring facilities are strategically located to meet customer needs.
  13. Oversee procurement policies and activities, fostering strategic sourcing relationships.
  14. Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in maintenance operations and provide insights on industry trends.
  15. Mentor and develop maintenance and engineering leaders, ensuring adherence to performance standards and promoting professional growth.
  16. Collaborate with various departments to achieve operational goals and address issues related to facilities and fleet management.
  17. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and develop policies to support management in adhering to safety and environmental standards.
  18. Provide strategic guidance to affiliate companies regarding equipment purchases and maintenance programs.
