Clinical Nurse - Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)

As a Clinical Nurse, you will adopt a patient- and family-focused approach to deliver comprehensive, high-quality, and safe care to individuals within the professional scope defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, utilizing evidence-based nursing methodologies and adhering to the standards established by Mackenzie Health. You will work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary care team, playing a vital role in fostering a world-class healthcare experience for patients and their families. Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Critical care or Emergency care certification or equivalent educational background.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in PACU, ICU, or Emergency settings is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in inpatient surgical recovery, ICU, or Emergency care.
  • Exceptional patient assessment and care planning abilities.
  • Proven expertise in patient education and training.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, particularly with electronic medical records.
  • Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the capability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) course.
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) or Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
  • Ability to communicate in a second language.
