Required Qualifications

Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Minimum of 1 year recent experience in acute medical/surgical settings. Coronary Care Level 1 certification from an accredited institution or a commitment to complete it within six (6) months of employment. Coronary Care Level 2 certification from an accredited institution or a commitment to complete it within one (1) year of employment.

Additional Skills and Attributes

Demonstrated clinical expertise in patient-focused care, encompassing strong assessment, care planning, education, and documentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a strong command of English and the capacity to convey information effectively. Proficiency in a second language is advantageous. Strong interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients and families. Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities. Commitment to quality care and safety, exercising sound professional judgment and adhering to evidence-based practices. Strong organizational skills, adept at managing workload in a fast-paced environment. Ability to constructively address and resolve conflicts. Capacity to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional team. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth. Proficiency in computer systems, particularly electronic medical records. Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Ability to take initiative and adapt to new or unexpected situations while adhering to the CNO's Ethics Practice Standard. Compliance with the CNO's Confidentiality and Privacy-Personal Health Information Practice Standard and adherence to Mackenzie Health's policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited program is preferred. Recent completion of a physical assessment course is preferred. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO)/Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) is preferred. Experience with adult and geriatric populations is preferred. At least 1 year of recent nursing experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting within the last 3 years is preferred. Experience in Telemetry, Coronary Care, or Intensive Care is preferred.
