Position Overview

Inpatient Surgical Nurse – C5 Procedures As an Inpatient Surgical Nurse, you will adopt a patient- and family-focused approach to deliver comprehensive, high-quality, and safe care to individuals within the professional scope defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, utilizing evidence-based nursing methodologies and adhering to the standards established by Mackenzie Health. You will work both independently and collaboratively as a vital member of the interprofessional care team, contributing to the creation of an exceptional health experience for patients and their families. This role demands professionalism at all times, embodying our core values of excellence, leadership, and empathy, while exemplifying our Commitment to Caring. Key Responsibilities Effectively manage a diverse workload in a dynamic environment. Proactively address and resolve challenges in a constructive and respectful manner. Apply sound professional judgment and adhere to best practice guidelines. Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by complying with patient and staff safety protocols. Required Qualifications Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years of recent experience in inpatient surgical settings, recovery room, day surgery, or ICU. Demonstrated clinical expertise in patient-centered care, including strong skills in patient assessment, care planning, education, and documentation. Experience with electronic medical records is essential. Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively convey information and collaborate with patients, families, and colleagues. Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Ability to take initiative and adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth. Additional Assets Operating Room Certification. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Recent experience in Endoscopy, Urology, and Pediatric surgery. Completion of a physical assessment course. Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) or Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). Experience in an ambulatory clinic setting is an advantage.
