About the Role

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to a design team on projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standards.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor and coach team members to develop their skills and knowledge, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Relationships: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring that their needs are met.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control processes to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Proposal Development: Support the development of proposals, ensuring that they are technically sound and meet the needs of clients.
  • Project Coordination: Lead the coordination and communication of project requirements and schedule needs across disciplines, ensuring that projects are delivered smoothly and efficiently.
  • Risk Management: Identify and communicate technical risks associated with projects, ensuring that they are mitigated and managed effectively.
  • Production Oversight: Oversee the production work required to meet deliverable milestones, ensuring that projects are completed to the required standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, develop, and communicate processes and tools to increase efficiency across the team and department, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Training and Development: Create, improve, facilitate, and teach training courses to the project team and department, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver projects successfully.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Experience: 7 years related transmission line design experience (completion of master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
  • Professional Engineering License: Professional engineering license (PE).
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to effectively lead project teams, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Scheduling and Budgeting: Experience in scheduling and budgeting.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Consulting or Utility Experience: Consulting or utility experience preferred.
