Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to join our team as a License Support Representative. This temporary, full-time position will be responsible for providing quality customer service to internal and external clients, processing licenses and permits, and performing administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients, including vehicle for hire license holders, dog owners, and business owners.
  • Process licenses and permits, including taxi, temporary and directional signs, vending and sidewalk café, dog, and others.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as scheduling testing and inspections, database management, application processing, report preparation, and filing.
  • Respond to service requests for license and permit applications related to License Standards.
  • Manage databases, including POSSE and Hansen, to track applications and process payments.
  • Provide service request/case information for Customer Contact Centre, residents, and Councillors.
  • Process payments for licensing and permits.
  • Run daily reports to confirm service standards are being met.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • One year Business or Administration certificate.
  • Minimum two years customer service experience.
  • Minimum one year administrative experience.
  • Minimum one year database management experience.
  • Minimum one year payment processing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Hansen and POSSE.
  • Experience in dealing with confrontational situations.
  • Knowledge of Best Business practices.
  • Knowledge of by-laws and Halifax Regional Charter.
  • Knowledge of FOIPOP.

Work Status

Temporary, full-time (up to three (3) years)

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm; 35 hours per week. Flex program agreement is possible.

NSGEU Local 222, Level 5, $29.40 per hour
