About the Position

As a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Licensed Orthotic Specialist reports directly to the Manager of Assistive Technology. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of clinical interventions tailored for both pediatric and adult populations. Key responsibilities include leveraging advanced decision-making skills, creativity, and strong interpersonal abilities to deliver high-quality care. The Licensed Orthotic Specialist is expected to provide clinical leadership, particularly in complex cases, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment to ensure competent, evidence-based care.

The dynamic nature of this position requires the Licensed Orthotic Specialist to operate both independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to address challenging clinical scenarios. Additionally, this role involves mentoring and supporting the development of students and colleagues through preceptorship and ongoing guidance.

The Licensed Orthotic Specialist will participate in clinics, rounds, conferences, and meetings as necessary, while also supervising and evaluating students and/or technicians.

Services may be required across the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio within a seven-day service framework.

Qualifications

We invite applications from candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Must hold the title of Licensed Orthotic Specialist from Orthotics Prosthetics Canada
  • A minimum of years of professional experience, preferably in a hospital environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously
  • Exceptional communication, observational, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated capacity to critically assess evaluation data and identify treatment requirements with a patient-centered focus
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation and a commitment to safeguarding personal health information
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred

Work Schedule

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $44.23.

Successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, along with a defined benefit pension plan.

Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and up to $5,000 in relocation assistance, contingent upon a defined Return of Service agreement.
