SUMMARY:

This role is accountable for the estimation of pre-construction and site development initiatives, including new store builds and site enhancements, ensuring that construction projects adhere to company and industry standards, budgets, and pricing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops cost estimates and budgets for assigned pre-construction and site development projects.
  • Monitors and evaluates pre-construction estimates throughout the design phases, from initial design to tender documentation, ensuring readiness for contractor bidding.
  • Analyzes site reports, gathers site-specific estimates for civil works, utilities, and landscaping, and incorporates these into cost development estimates for assigned projects.
  • Assesses tender bid submissions to verify that costs align with the project scope and estimates.
  • Identifies cost-saving opportunities through constructability reviews in collaboration with Project Managers and General Contractors.
  • Creates and tracks project cost summaries against initial estimates.
  • Stays informed on relevant standards for retail operations, new regulations, and best practices to ensure competitive and optimal project costs.
  • Performs administrative duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Compiles project budgets into financial formats for submission to the planning team.
  • Oversees the development and training of estimators.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in engineering, construction management, or quantity surveying.
  • Over 10 years of experience in construction estimation.
  • Experience in the grocery sector is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in data analytics, particularly with Excel; knowledge of Power BI is an asset.
