Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Charge or designate, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with conducting clinical analyses and reporting on patient samples in accordance with established protocols. The incumbent will also contribute to various laboratory projects, including standard operating procedures and chemical inventories. Maintaining a safe work environment in line with professional and provincial guidelines, the technologist will ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and uphold standards set by accreditation bodies. All functions are performed in alignment with the Mission and Values of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, as well as current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Experience
  • Previous relevant experience is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as determined by the Employer, may also be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, are essential.
  • Proficiency in a Windows computer environment is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
  • Mental and physical health necessary to meet the demands of the role is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with precision and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Fluency in both written and oral French may be required.
  • Ability to perform the duties as described.
Physical Requirements
  • Working shifts, weekends, and holidays may be necessary.
  • Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.
  • Rotation through various workstations as needed.
  • Exposure to all hazards and dangers associated with laboratory work.
