Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Position Overview
Under the general oversight of the Charge or designated authority, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with the clinical evaluation and documentation of patient specimens in accordance with established protocols. This role also encompasses participation in various laboratory initiatives, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), chemical inventories, and more. The incumbent is expected to uphold a safe working environment in line with professional and provincial standards, ensuring adherence to quality assurance programs and maintaining the benchmarks set by Accreditation. All activities are to be performed in alignment with the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services, as well as current policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Experience
- Prior relevant experience is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Successful passage of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a specific discipline specialty, as determined by the Employer, may also be taken into account.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
- Active membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered advantageous.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Proficiency in a Windows computer environment is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
- Sound mental and physical health is necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical skills are essential.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all information entrusted to the position.
- Fluency in both written and spoken French may be required.
- Capability to execute duties as outlined.
Physical Requirements
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.
- Flexibility to rotate through various workstations as needed.
- Exposure to all hazards associated with laboratory work is inherent to this position.
