The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is dedicated to enhancing the delivery of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across the region. The organization also provides province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and operational functions for health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general oversight of the Charge or designate, the General Duty Medical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with performing clinical analyses and reporting on patient samples in accordance with established protocols. The incumbent will also engage in various laboratory projects such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), chemical inventories, and more. It is essential to maintain a safe working environment in line with professional and provincial standards, ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs and maintaining the standards set forth by Accreditation. All duties are to be performed in alignment with the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services, as well as current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Experience
  • Previous relevant experience is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a discipline specialty, as determined by the Employer may also be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral, are essential.
  • Proficiency in a Windows computer environment is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs is preferred.
  • Mental and physical health necessary to meet the demands of the role is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Fluency in both written and oral French may be required.
  • Ability to perform the duties as described.
Physical Requirements
  • Working shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Participation in standby and callback duty may be necessary.
  • Rotation through various workstations as required.
  • Exposure to all hazards and dangers associated with laboratory work.
