Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Position Overview
Under the general oversight of the Charge or designated authority, the Clinical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with the clinical evaluation and documentation of patient specimens in accordance with established protocols. This role also involves contributing to various laboratory initiatives, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), chemical inventory management, and more. The incumbent is expected to uphold a safe working environment that aligns with professional and provincial standards, ensuring adherence to quality assurance programs and maintaining the benchmarks set by Accreditation. All functions are performed in alignment with the Mission and Values of Shared Health Diagnostic Services, current policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
Experience
- Prior relevant experience is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a specialty discipline, as determined by the Employer, may also be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
- Active membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Experience in a Windows computer environment is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
- Must possess the mental and physical health necessary to meet job demands.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with precision and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical skills are required.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all information entrusted to the position.
- Fluency in both written and oral French may be required.
- Capability to fulfill the duties as outlined.
Physical Requirements
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays may be necessary.
- Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.
- Flexibility to rotate through various workstations as needed.
- Exposure to all hazards and risks associated with laboratory work.
