Job Summary

The General Duty Medical Laboratory Technologist is a key member of the Shared Health Diagnostic Services team, responsible for clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples according to established protocols. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples, ensuring accuracy and quality of results.
  • Assist in general lab projects, such as SOP development, chemical inventory management, and quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment, adhering to professional and provincial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with industry developments and best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
  • Previous related experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Working Conditions

  • Working shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Participation in standby and callback duty may be required.
  • Exposure to all hazards and dangers inherent in working in a laboratory.
