Position Overview:Durham College is in search of a qualified and driven professional who shares our dedication to educational excellence and student achievement. The Faculty of Business is looking for a part-time professor to instruct COMP 2206 – Advanced Spreadsheet Applications for SCM.
Key Responsibilities:The role of a part-time professor at Durham College encompasses, but is not limited to:
- Fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects and accommodates the diverse cultural and educational backgrounds of students;
- Applying adult education principles to actively engage students in their learning journey;
- Effectively utilizing educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses;
- Designing curriculum that incorporates appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student performance;
- Ensuring that course and program content remains current and relevant;
- Demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently;
- Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- A relevant master's degree along with industry credentials.
- A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent work experience.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level, with a strong understanding of Universal Design for Learning and contemporary assessment methodologies.
- Participation in industry-led or community-based applied research is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in utilizing current technologies to facilitate student learning and manage grading.
- A proven commitment to lifelong learning.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, support staff, and community partners.
- A solid understanding of the Ontario college system.
