Important Note for Part-time Faculty Applicants:

Recruitment for part-time positions is ongoing and is contingent upon course scheduling and faculty needs. Part-time instructors may teach up to 6 hours weekly, with varied schedules available from Monday to Thursday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is a continuous posting for prospective part-time teaching roles.

Responsibilities of Part-time Professors at Durham College:
  1. Fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning preferences;
  2. Applying adult education principles to actively engage students in their learning journey;
  3. Utilizing educational technologies effectively to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses;
  4. Designing curriculum that incorporates suitable strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
  5. Ensuring that course and program content remains current and relevant;
  6. Demonstrating independence and initiative in teaching practices;
  7. Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications for Ideal Candidates:
  1. A relevant bachelor's degree (a master's degree or PhD is advantageous).
  2. A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent work experience.
  3. Preference will be given to candidates who identify as members of Inuit, Métis, and/or First Nations communities, with an understanding of the challenges faced by Indigenous populations in Canada.
  4. Experience teaching at the post-secondary level, with a solid grasp of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and contemporary assessment methods.
  5. Participation in industry-led or community-based applied research is considered an asset.
  6. A demonstrated commitment to prioritizing the student experience.
  7. Proficiency in utilizing current technologies to support student learning and grade management.
  8. A proven history of lifelong learning.
  9. Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, support staff, and community partners.
  10. Understanding of the Ontario college system.
