About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team at McCain Foods. As a Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and improve the safety culture within the facility, supporting the Key Elements of Safety Program.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand and adhere to H.A.C.C.P. regulations concerning sanitation and critical control points.
  • Customer Focus: Lead and provide best practices for the integration of technical expertise and manufacturing into product development, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Provide character-based leadership to a high-performing team, bringing out the best in our people.
  • Hygiene and Sanitation: Oversee hygiene and sanitation processes, including allergen testing and control.
  • Raw Material Sourcing: Source raw materials to ensure the success of projects.
  • Experimental Protocols: Provide direction and oversight for experimental protocols and accurate record keeping, with strong accountability skills.
  • Food Safety Program: Actively support the Food Safety Program (HACCP) by following all policies, procedures, and completing required inspections.
  • Global Collaboration: Work closely with the global connected technical team and external customers.
  • Decision-Making: Make good decisions and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Communication: Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to record legible results.
  • Autonomy: Work with minimal supervision and respond to unexpected circumstances calmly and responsibly.
  • Adaptability: Accept and adapt to change in day-to-day operations.
  • Curiosity: Demonstrate a natural curiosity for surroundings and unexpected outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering/science, with co-op or intern work experience in engineering and food manufacturing an asset.
  • Skills: Desire to tackle new challenges, self-starter, highly motivated to achieve deadlines, workplace flexibility, ability to train across multiple business functions, and ability to work in teams and as an individual.
What You'll Achieve
  • Manage projects with the potential to open new revenue streams for the company.
  • Evaluate new/novel process technologies and new/novel product performance.
  • Communicate with project stakeholders to define project scope requirements and deliver project results.
  • Support the pilot facility and processing labs.
  • Support the facility's Food Safety Program and Key Elements of Safety Program.
